CASEMENT WINDOWS

A casement is a window that is attached to its frame by one or more hinges. Casement windows are hinged at the side. Windows hinged at the top are referred to as awning windows, and ones hinged at the bottom are called hoppers. They are used singly or in pairs within a common frame, in which case they are hinged on the outside. Casement windows are often held open using a casement stay.

FIXED WINDOWS

An awning window is a casement window that is hung horizontally, hinged on top, so that it swings outward like an awning. In addition to be used independently, they can be stacked, several in one opening, or combined with fixed glass. They are particularly useful for ventilation.
Fixed windows are also non-operational windows, designed to let in light and add expansive views. Fixed windows have larger frames and are built to match the site lines of accompanying operating windows, for a beefier, more contemporary look.
